Whitney Stewart

I am a PhD Candidate in History at Rice University and a dissertation fellow at the McNeil Center for Early American Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. My published work includes a forthcoming article in the Journal of Social History, as well as Race and Nation in the Age of Emancipations: An Atlantic World Anthology, a co-edited volume under contract with University of Georgia Press. I am a passionate public historian, and have held curatorial fellowships at The Henry Ford and the Bayou Bend Collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. I also co-manage the Free Project (http://www.thefreeproject.org/), a national network of student-run anti-human trafficking clubs, and blog for Teaching United States History (http://www.teachingushistory.co/).
