Joe Locke
I'm a former Rice University Ph.D. and current assistant professor of history at the University of Houston-Victoria. I research the historical interplay between religion and American public life and my first book, Making the Bible Belt: Texas Prohibitionists and the Politicization of Southern Religion, is forthcoming summer 2017 from Oxford University Press. I also co-created and edit The American Yawp (www.americanyawp.com), a free and online American history textbook developed through a free and open collaboration of university educators.
